Southgate Community Centre Bury St Edmunds

A variety of groups hire the halls and rooms to run their own meetings, classes and events. We’re also home to the Sunday morning services of Southgate Church. There is free car parking adjacent to the centre, which has good disabled access.

It was built by the Borough Council in the late 70’s but taken over by the community in 2011.

ABOUT THE SOUTHGATE COMMUNITY CENTRE

Local people are now totally responsible for the Centre and own the building. Well over £30000 has been invested to improve facilities over the past few years. Over 20 groups use the facilities on a regular basis with 300 + people enjoying activities each week. We welcome bookings for ad hoc events and social functions with hire rates being very competitive.

A number of groups meet regularly at the Centre, including Zumba and Zumba Gold, Slimming World, Hardwick Toddlers, Southgate Opportunities, Southgate Group, Keep Fit Group, Upbeat, Mother & Toddler Group, Southgate Church, Dancing Stars, Positive Steps, U3A (Philisophy, Social History and Tai Chi groups), Bury Starlets (Baton Twirlers), Bury Ballroom, Yoga, Positively Crafty, Luckenbooth Circle and OneLife Suffolk are among our regular hirers.

The centre is situated on the south side of Bury St Edmunds, just a mile from the town centre.  There is free car parking adjacent to the centre, which has good disabled access.
