Southgate Community Centre Bury St Edmunds
A variety of groups hire the halls and rooms to run their own meetings, classes and events. We’re also home to the Sunday morning services of Southgate Church. There is free car parking adjacent to the centre, which has good disabled access.
About Us
It was built by the Borough Council in the late 70’s but taken over by the community in 2011.

A number of groups meet regularly at the Centre offering fitness classes, craft clubs & much more.
Room / Hall Hire
We have a main hall and two smaller rooms available for hire, either on a regular basis or for one-off events.

Over 20 groups use the facilities on a regular basis with 300 + people enjoying activities each week.
ABOUT THE SOUTHGATE COMMUNITY CENTRE
Local people are now totally responsible for the Centre and own the building. Well over £30000 has been invested to improve facilities over the past few years. Over 20 groups use the facilities on a regular basis with 300 + people enjoying activities each week. We welcome bookings for ad hoc events and social functions with hire rates being very competitive.
A number of groups meet regularly at the Centre, including Cathedral Squares, Zumba Gold, Slimming World, Men’s Keep Fit, Reel Club, Upbeat, Breathe Easy, Bury Bridge Club, SANDS, Bury Art Society, Good Vibes, Mother & Toddler Group, Southgate Church, Positive Steps, Yoga, Positively Crafty, Luckenbooth Circle and Knit & Natter are among our regular hirers.
The centre is situated on the south side of Bury St Edmunds, just a mile from the town centre. There is free car parking adjacent to the centre, which has good disabled access.
